distribution reported by GIPSED

Access to education includes having the materials needed to participate in lessons. Through its distribution of writing materials, GIPSED helps equip children for classroom learning while reducing some of the expense borne by families.

The distribution in Okuku

In 2023, GIPSED, in partnership with FLORYCOM Foundation, distributed notebooks to every pupil in four public primary schools and every student in two public secondary schools in Okuku, Odo-Otin LGA.

Each child received two 60-leaf notebooks. The distribution covered all pupils and students in the six participating schools, extending support beyond those enrolled in GIPSED’s scholarship programmes.

Schools reached

The secondary schools were Odo-Otin Grammar School and Oyinlola Comprehensive School. The primary schools were St Michael’s Primary School, Oyinlola D.C. Primary School, St Anthony’s RCM Primary School and Oyekunle D.C. Primary School. All six are in Okuku.

Supporting everyday learning

Notebooks provide space for lesson notes, exercises and assignments. This intervention complements scholarships, examination sponsorship and teacher recruitment by addressing another part of what children need to learn.

The gallery also includes earlier notebook distributions documented in Facebook posts from May and June 2022. Those photographs retain their original year; they are not presented as photographs of the reported 2023 distribution.
