Project Feed joined the celebration
GIPSED’s annual Children’s Christmas Party brings children together for celebration, learning and fun. Organised with Team DMO and community volunteers, the event creates an opportunity for children to enjoy the festive season and for families to share in community life.
A growing community tradition
The first celebration took place in 2018, followed by a second edition in 2019. The 2020 event was cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic. GIPSED confirms that celebrations also took place in 2021 and 2022, followed by the documented 2023 and 2024 editions.
Activities have included children’s talent shows, spelling activities, dancing competitions, Father Christmas appearances and other games. These occasions give children space to participate, express themselves and celebrate together.
Bringing Project Feed into the celebration
In 2023, GIPSED combined the Children’s Christmas Party with Project Feed at Christmas. The event was held on 23 December in front of Okuku Town Hall, bringing together festivities for children and practical food support for families.
This combination continued in 2024, recognising that celebrating with children can also be an opportunity to support their households.
Christmas 2024: reaching 238 families
The 2024 event took place on 24 December at Okuku Town Hall. Under the theme “Project Feed 200 Families at Christmas”, the programme set out to support 200 families and ultimately reached 238 families with food items.

The people who make it possible
The celebrations depend on the work of GIPSED’s field team and volunteers. The 2024 account recognises Seun Abimbola Olaniyan, Rhoda Ojo, Toyin Adesoye, Adedokun Akeem, Emmanuel Awotola and other team members for their work.
Through their efforts, the annual party combines shared enjoyment with practical support, keeping children and families at the centre of the celebration.
